Histon and Impington Village Society are holding a talk on Tuesday 31st May from 7.30pm at Histon Methodist Church.
The talk entitled “𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗶𝘁𝘀 S𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 D𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀” will be given by Nigel Fenner.
Victorian social history in Cambridge is widely documented, but this talk is one with an exceptional difference. Nigel Fenner helps shed new light on a little researched aspect of Cambridge during this period, helping us understand what a crucial role sport played in bringing the town and gown together during the Victorian era. He will also talk on how the Cambridge Fenner’s cricket ground came to fruition following the escapades on Parker Piece.
Tickets are free for Village Society Members, and cost £3 for non-Members. You can either attend in-person or watch on Zoom. Please book via the Eventbrite link; https://www.eventbrite.com/…/h-i-village-society-may…or email handivsoc@gmail.com for more information.
