  • Scratch from Scratch

    Histon Library are holding a children’s coding event on Thursday 28th July from 10am – 11.30am.

    Join the Centre for Computing History for a workshop making an entire game from scratch in Scratch – an infinite runner based on the Google Chrome Dinosaur game.

    Recommended for ages 8 and up.

  • Children’s Poetry Reading and Author Talk – CANCELLED

    Histon Library is holding an author event on Thursday 28th July from 10 to 11am.

    Charlie Bown will be reading poetry from her book “There’s a Poem in my Dungarees”.

  • Creative Life Writing at Histon Library

    Histon library is offering a series of five free classes in creative life writing to celebrate life in Cambridgeshire.  The classes start on 13th July from 11am-1pm, and will run for five weeks.

    The five classes are aimed at helping local people to explain and celebrate in writing their experiences of life in the county. Participants will be taught some of the elements of creative writing to help make their stories come alive.

  • Engage at Histon Library

    Histon Library is holding a talk on “Domestic Violence against Women and the Work of Cambridge Women’s Aid” on Wednesday 20th July from 2pm.

    The talk will be by Rachel Scott, trustee of Cambridge Women’s Aid. There will be refreshments available.

  • Histon Library Celebration

    Histon Library is holding a celebration on Saturday 21st May from 10am until 12pm.

    Family activities include:

    • 10am: Ribbon cutting & launch of Open+
    • 10:30am and 11.15am: meet The Cambridge Cats, Fitz and Will and have fun with local co-creators Katherine Mann and Laura Robson Brown
    • Friends of Histon Library book sale
    • Decorate a cupcake

    Please note the library will be open as normal from 9am – 1pm.

  • Supernovae: The Brilliant Explosion of Stars

    Histon Library is holding an event on Wednesday 25th May from 2pm – 3.30pm

    Local Author, Or Graur, will be giving a talk on Supernovae and presenting his new book, Supernova.

    Did you know that most of the elements that make up your body were created by exploding stars? Supernova is a concise introduction to the history and physics of supernovae – the explosions of stars. The book covers the 2000-year history of supernova observations, the physics of their explosions, their impact on the Universe and on us, and their use as tools in various experiments in physics and astronomy.
