  • Garden Club

    Histon and Impington Garden Club is holding a meeting on Tuesday 11th October at 7.30pm at Histon Methodist Church.

    Speaker Ian Bedford will give a talk entitled ‘Gardens for Us and Them’. He will explain how home gardens can be stepping stones for wildlife to move between nature reserves. After the talk there will be refreshments and a chance to chat about current garden topics.

  • Garden Club

    Histon and Impington Garden Club resumes on Tuesday 13th September with a short AGM followed by a talk on ‘Elizabethan Gardens and Politics’ by Pippa and Steve Temple.

    A full programme for 2022/2023 will be available and new members are very welcome.

    Meetings are held in the Methodist Church rooms and start at 7.30. There are refreshments and a chance to chat about current garden issues at the end of each meeting. For further details please contact Richard Ackroyd on 236315.

  • Strictly Daylilies Open Garden Days

    Strictly Daylilies at 2 Primes Corner on the Cottenham Road are holding their 2022 Open Garden Days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 15 to 17 July at 9am-4pm.

    You will see close to 2000 different registered cultivars in their official American Hemerocallis Display Gardens and Historic Daylily Gardens as well as our National Collection of Modern Cultivars. Stroll through the hybridizing field and the greenhouse to see what new plants we are working with in their various programmes.  

    The Histon and Impington Village Society Archaeology Group will also be doing a test pit in the field on the same days.

    Histon & Impington Open Gardens

    Histon & Impington Open Gardens will take place on Sunday 12th June from 12-6pm.

    A community event in which local gardeners open their gardens to the public for the day. 17 gardens, live music, teas, plant stall and a trail for children.

    In aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital, HI Friends and Histon & Impington Feast.

  • Annual Plant Sale

    Histon and Impington Garden Club are holding a plant sale on Saturday 14th May from 8.30 – 11.30am at The Boot on the High Street.

    The sale returns after a two year absence. A wide variety of vegetable and bedding plants will be for sale.

  • Grounds Maintenance Operatives

    Grounds Maintenance workers are are being recruited by Professional Personnel Management Ltd to work for a landscape/grounds maintenance company and will need to report to the client every morning in the Histon area. The duties are lawn cutting, litter picking, Lawn mowing, Strimming lawns and edges, defining lawn edges, Hedge cutting, weed control, using ride on mowers (not essential), using plant machinery and powered tools and other general landscape labour duties as directed by the supervisor. This job starts immediately and the working hours are 7am to 4.30pm- Monday to Friday. Closing date: 07 May 2022

  • Spring Plant Sale

    HI Friends are organising a plant sale on Saturday 7th May from 10am to 12pm on the Village Green.

    They will be selling locally propagated plants and gardening experts will be on hand to offer information & advice. There will be a chance to win a prize in a gardening raffle.

    If you have plants you can propagate and donate they would love to hear from you.

    Proceeds to go to Friends of Histon and Impington charity, supporting wellbeing and recreation for all.

  • Daffodil Spring Walks at Abbey Farm

    Abbey Farm off Park Lane is holding an event in its grounds from 18th to 21st March.

    In support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis, the village community is invited to visit the grounds of Abbey Farm for what is hoped will be a wonderful spring walk. If the timing is right, you will see the rather unique display of many thousands of Daffodils at their peak in the meadows around the house.

    Limited tickets are available to follow a self guided path that will take you to the best spots to see the flowers, or alternatively a 90 min fully guided walk around through the grounds with the owner, Michael Watson – this option also includes refreshments after the tour.

  • Bees in the Garden

    Histon and Impington Garden Club are holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday 12th April at 7.30pm at the Methodist Hall.

    Colin Bell, the owner of Southview Apiary, will talk about bees, their importance, how to attract them to the garden and look after them once they have arrived.

    All meetings are free for Garden Club members. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings for a fee of £2.50.

  • Getting the Best Out of Your Roses

    Histon and Impington Garden Club will be holding its monthly meeting on Tuesday 8th March at 7.30pm at the Methodist Hall.

    The talk will be led by Ian Limmer, Nursery Manager for Peter Beales Roses for 43 years. It will include information on planting and pruning correctly, a little about the nursery gardens for Chelsea and differences between climbers and ramblers.

    Meetings are free for Garden Club members (£10/yr membership fee). Visitors are welcome to attend meetings for a fee of £2.50.
