  • Histon and Impington Library Friends: On-line book sales

Bored of your books and wondering what you’re going to do with the library closed? Histon Library Friends (HILF) have got the answer! Over the next few weeks we will be running a “bookcycling” service. Our monthly book sales will be held online in our Facebook group (HILF) from our stockpile of books, puzzles and DVDs.

Simply browse the pictures of books, decide which ones you fancy and email hisimplibraryfriends@gmail.com by midnight on the Sunday. It’s first come, first served.

Your order will be picked and parcelled up on the Monday, and delivered to your doorstep (by bike or foot) on Friday after spending the week in quarantine. We want to spread the joy of reading, so there’s no charge. But if you feel able to make a donation that would be great. At our normal book sales it’s 40p per book, 3 for £1.

And if you’re worried about the library, watch this space! There are plans afoot to keep the village connected to the library services while the library is closed.

  • Junior Athletics 6 Week Programme

A six week programme of workouts has been prepared by Ben Davies, the HI Community Athletics coach for children and young people. The programme is suitable for children in years 3 to year 6 with the guidance of parents/carers, and from year 7 onwards they should perform exercises within their capabilities.

These training sessions are designed to develop overall athletic ability by working on coordination, strength and speed rather than event specific technique. All workouts are able to be completed on the spot in a small space or moving about in a garden, a ball is required for the throwing based circuits. Parents, give it a go with your young athletes – you will get a good workout from it as well!

Important: Please access the documents explaining the purpose and execution of these training sessions, as well as the weekly layout before you start here: https://www.hifriends.org.uk/activities/athletics/

HI Friends would like to thank Living Sport for their support in this project.
