  • ‘Spitfire Excavation in the Great Fen’ – HIAG talk

    James Fairbairn, Project Officer at Oxford Archaeology East (OAE) will give a talk about the story of Spitfire ‘Kerala’ Mk la X4593 which crashed on the 22nd of November 1940 on a routine training flight with the Pilot Officer Harold Penketh being killed.

    During October 2015 OAE, local community volunteers, and members of Operation Nightingale excavated the remains of the Spitfire near Holme Fen in Cambridgeshire. This talk will tell Pilot Officer Penketh’s story and that of his Spitfire – it is in his memory. 

    It will be held on Monday 5th July at 7.30pm by Zoom.

    The Rose and Crown are hosting live music by Steve Scott on Saturday 26th from 6:30pm.

  • Night of Comedy – The Boot

    As part of this years Histon & Impington village feast The Boot will play host to an evening of Comedy on Thursday 8th July! Starting at 8pm, guests will be treated to a feast of comedy from specially selected comedians.

    They’ll also be offering ticket holders £5 off a main course if they dine with us on the 8th, with a donation from each ticket sale going to the Histon feast committee for distribution amongst local good causes.

  • Guided Walks on the Abbey Fields

    Come along for guided walk to learn more about the wildlife and natural habitats found in these special green spaces. The walks will be approximately one hour long and supervised children are welcome. Please note that paths on Croft Close Set Aside are not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs and boots (or enclosed shoes) and trousers are recommended as there are brambles and nettles about. Suggested donation of £5 per adult, children free.

  • Eboracum Baroque perform ‘Baroque Classics’

    Eboracum Baroque will be performing, at Impington Mill Gardens, ‘Baroque Classics’ on Saturday 31st July, featuring works by Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi, including operatic arias, concertos and instrumental suites. This varied programme will highlight some baroque classics but also include some lesser known works. It features Soprano, Elen Lloyd Roberts accompanied by period instruments.

    Tickets are £27.50 and includes a drink on arrival. Please bring your own seating or a rug to sit on to enjoy the performance. Concert starts at 7pm.

  • BIG TIDY UP – June

    The quarterly Big Tidy Up will combine its efforts to coincide with The Great British Spring Clean, where similar groups will be taking part throughout the Country on Saturday 5th June.

    Existing members who have their own patch and litter pick throughout the year, but new members who would like to help on the day are asked to contact Cedric Foster by email (cedric.jl.foster1944@btinternet.com).

    On Saturday 5th June, Cedric will be in the Village High Street Car Park (opposite Tylers Estate Agents), to hand out equipment from 9.00 to 9.30am.

    This time they also plan to target the wooded area alongside Butt Lane, just before the Recycling Centre on the right on Sunday morning the 6th June.  If you would like to join this team please contact Cedric Foster by email cedric.jl.foster1944@btinternet.com for more details.
