The next HIAG talk, to be held by Zoom on Monday 8th November at 7.30 p.m. is  ‘The Lost Roman Town of Great Chesterford’ given  by Maria Medlycott, Senior Historic Consultant, Essex County Council.  Once the second largest Roman town in Essex, Great Chesterford is now largely invisible, but this overview of the results of archaeological fieldwork will allow you to picture it in your mind’s eye as you drive by the fields where it once stood.

Use www.hiarchaeology.wordpress.com/contact to register for this free talk: a Zoom link will be sent in advance.  HIAG members receive the Zoom link automatically.

The roads within the town are visible as lighter lines within the crop and the pits, property boundaries and possible temple are visible as darker lines. Credit: Helen Saunders ©Essex county Council.
