The group has formed out of interested people from the HI Pump Track Facebook page created by Dan Clifton.  This event is an opportunity to meet with the group and find out more about pump tracks. What is a pump track? How does it work? Who uses a pump track?  What different options for a track exist? What benefits a track would bring to the villages? It will also be an opportunity to bring ideas and voice concerns.

The meeting will outline a forward plan for achieving a track within the villages. This will include formalisation of interested people into an official working group.

  • Jubilee Memories Exhibition

Histon and Impington Village Society have organised a Jubilee Memories Exhibition from Friday 3rd June to Sunday 5th June in the Community Room at the Recreation Ground.

It has been the perfect opportunity to bring the society’s much treasured archives out of storage to share wonderful village memories of coronations and jubilees in years gone by. We hope the exhibition will be great for all ages, providing an opportunity to learn about celebrations in our villages before our time, and to have fun spotting friends and family in the more recent images. The exhibition will cover the 1953 Coronation, as well as the Jubilees in 1935, 1977, 2002 and 2012 all focussing on what happened in our villages on those days.

A vast number of photos will be showcased together with tables of local jubilee and coronation memorabilia to pick up and flick through, as far ranging as the minutes of the 1977 H&I jubilee committee to a resident’s scrapbook of her experience on coronation day. Items such as the mugs given out to pupils of the village school in 1953 and a coronation mug dug up only last month in a garden in Histon will be on display.

    Advert

    The exhibition will be open:

    3rd June: 11am – 2.30pm

    4th June: 2pm – 4.30pm (with complimentary tea & cake)

    5th June: 12.30 – 4.30pm

If you need transport to the Recreation Ground, please contact the Village Society and we will do our best to help as we have access to the community minibus for the Saturday opening if required.
