  • Histon and Impington Ukrainian Support

    There is an opportunity for hosts, and potential hosts, of Ukrainian guests to meet up on Thursday 23rd June at 7.30pm in the Upstairs Function Room at Histon Smokehouse.

    This is a chance for people to get together to share experiences and ideas, and learn a little more from each other.  You are welcome to turn up on the night, though it would be appreciated if you could let me know beforehand. Email bryonywebb1@yahoo.co.uk.

  • Creative Life Writing Information Session

    Histon Library is holding an information session about classes in creative life writing on 29th June at 11am.

    The Library is running five classes in creative life writing to celebrate life in Cambridgeshire starting on 13th July (11am – 1pm).

    If you wish to participate in the class, but can’t attend on 29th, please email BarHill.Referral@cambridgeshire.gov.uk to register your interest.

    This year’s Feast Flower Festival in St Andrew’s Church Histon will be on the theme of Caring for Creation. It will be open at these times and entry is free.

  • The Flora of Long Meadow

    The Flora of Long Meadow

    Abbey Fields are holding a walk on Wednesday 22nd June from 10am to 12pm at Long Meadow.

    Dave Dives will show some of the interesting flora at Long Meadow. Dave, a knowledgeable botanist, probably knows the flora of Long Meadow better than anyone.

    The walk starts from the east end of Long Meadow, by the new fence. The walks are open to all. Whilst participants need to be able to walk over uneven ground we will be proceeding slowly to allow those less sure on their feet to join in.

  • Magical Moths and Brilliant Bugs

    Abbey Fields have organised a nature event on Saturday 25th June from 9am to 11am at the Croft Close set-aside field.

    Moths will be collected overnight for you to see. Bug safaris around the field to search for creepy crawlies.

  • General Introduction to Abbey Fields

    Abbey Fields are holding a general introduction to Abbey Fields, and the Croft Close site in particular, on Saturday 18th June from 2.30pm.

    Led by Jon Pavey, you can enjoy the beauty of our rich mosaic of habitats. The walk starts at the gate at the end of Croft Close.

  • Recruitment Coffee Morning – Spire Cambridge Lea

    Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital are holding a clinical recruitment coffee morning on Saturday 2nd July 2022 from 10.00am to 12.00pm. They have opportunities in their Theatre, Physiotherapy, Imaging, Pre-Assessment, Hotel Services, Administration and Nursing Teams.

    The day will consist of:

    • An introduction to Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital
    • Hear from the Hospital Director and Director of Clinical Services
    • A tour of the hospital
    • The opportunity to speak to the team and hear about their experiences at Spire and see how they can support your career choices
  • Bird Ringing Demonstration

    Bird Ringing Demonstration

    Abbey Fields have organised a bird ringing demonstration on Sunday 12th June from 8.30 to 10.30am at the Croft Set Aside.

    Experts will explain about bird ringing and show tracking devices that are also used to monitor bird movements and migration. There will be a fun quiz to take part in too.

    Just pop along any time. We look forward to seeing as many children at the demonstrations as possible as there is nothing quite like the experience of getting really close to wildlife.

  • King Bill 24 Hour Run Relay

    This 24 hour relay run based at the King Bill will run from Fri 8 July, 5pm to Sat 9 July, 5pm.

    Runners welcome to run 1.56 mile circuit in half hour slots

    £5 entry donation is suggested to raise funds for HI Friends Hope Again Bereavement Group

  • Holiday Club

    Churches Together are running their Holiday Club from 10am – 12.30pm on 26th to 28th July at Histon Baptist Church.

    The club is open to all children in Reception to Year 6.

    The theme this year is ‘Catastrophe Castle’. The action is set in a Fairytale land where a group of unlikely dragon-slayers are on a journey to Catastrophe Castle, to try their hand at slaying the fearsome dragon who has put the King under a sleeping spell and locked him in a tower.
