  • Village Society Talk – The Museum of Cambridge

    Histon and Impington Village Society are holding a talk “The Museum of Cambridge seen through the Eye of an Expert” on Tuesday 26th July at 7.30pm at Histon Methodist Church (TBC).

    Following an introduction on the history of this unique Museum, Roger Lilley’s talk will focus on some of the objects in the collection, highlighting their origins and the individual story each has to tell. For more information, see the website: Histon Village Society

  • Strawberry Community Cycling Event

    This year’s Strawberry Cycle Event will take place on Sunday 4th September and is organised by Histon & Impington Bicycle Club and HI Friends. The rides are a fun and relaxed way to enjoy cycling along the country roads of south west Cambridgeshire and are open to cyclists of all standards. Participants range from young adults to veterans, from occasional cyclists to keen club riders. Everyone cycles at their own speed or with friends and family.

  • Brunch at the Orchard

    Histon and Impington Community Orchard Project (HICOP) are holding an event on Saturday 2nd July from 10am-Midday.

    BBQ breakfast plus wildlife stalls with Community Orchard volunteers on hand to answer questions about the orchard. There will be an interesting range of wildlife stalls so it’s a great opportunity to find out about local wildlife. We have:

    • A moth expert who’ll be able to show you a range of moths local to the village.
    • A falconer showing a static display of traditional and modern falconry – he may have a bird on the glove, or perched.
    • The local Hedgehog Gardens Histon Impington and Orchard Park group who will advise on the steps you can take to help reverse the decline in hedgehog numbers.
    • The Cambridge Natural History Society will tell you about the society and the numerous talks, field studies and excursions they organise.
    • A bee keeper
    • Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire Wildlife Trust.

  • Trains Return to Histon

    The Histon and Impington Model rail Group are holding a display on Saturday 9th July from 9am – 12pm at The Saint Andrews Centre.

    They will be displaying their bigger and better 1/76 scale reproduction of Histon Station in its 1950s heydays as part of Feast Week.

  • Village Society Talk on Impington Hall

    Histon and Impington Village Society are holding a talk on Tuesday 28th June from 7.30pm at Histon Methodist Church.

    The talk is entitled “IMPINGTON HALL, its Owners and Estates – long gone but not forgotten”. Drawing upon a unique collection of photographs, maps and documents held within Histon and Impington Village Society Archives, our local historian, Eleanor Whitehead, will bring to life the history of Impington Hall.

  • Impington Village College: Past, Present and Future

    During part of Histon and Impington Feast week, IVC are offering opportunities to visit on Friday 8th July at 1.30pm or 2.30pm.

    This is an opportunity to see some of the College’s world-famous Gropius architecture, as well as to hear more about all things IVC. There will be a short presentation on the History of the College, held in the beautiful Grade I Listed Brackenbury Room, and a chance to hear about current and future plans. There will also be an opportunity to meet members of the senior leadership team and ask any questions you may have about life in the College.

    Impington Village College Coffee Morning

    During Histon and Impington Feast week, IVC is hosting a coffee morning from 11.30am – 12.30pm on Friday 8th July.

    Students will be busy baking and ready to serve tea and coffee in the beautiful Grade I Listed Carnegie Room. There will also be a chance to chat informally to senior members of staff.

  • General Introduction to Abbey Fields

    Abbey Fields are holding a general introduction to Abbey Fields, and the Croft Close site in particular, on 30th June from 10am.

    Led by Jon Pavey, you can enjoy the beauty of our rich mosaic of habitats. The walk starts at the gate at the end of Croft Close.

    These walks are open to all. Whilst participants need to be able to walk over uneven ground we will be proceeding slowly to allow those less sure on their feet to join in. To attend any of the guided walks please register your interest by emailing sitemanagers@abbeyfields.online .
