  • Greater Cambridge Partnership Proposal Event

    The Greater Cambridge Partnership is holding an event on Monday 12th December from 5-7pm at Impington Village College (Main Hall) as part of its Making Connections 2022 consultation.

    The consultation is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to change how we travel in Greater Cambridge and the wider area, relieving pressure on the network and responding to air quality, cost of living and climate crises for a better, cleaner and safer future. The survey, plus information about the proposals, frequently asked questions, dates of public meetings and ways you can share your thoughts can be found here: http://www.greatercambridge.org.uk/mc-2022.

    You are welcome to come and talk about the proposals or ask any questions of the team to help you to complete the survey.

  • Christmas Disco and Crafts

    Ladybird Playgroup is holding a Christmas disco on Friday 16th December from 3-5pm at the Salvation Arm hall.

    Disco, crafts and refreshments.

  • Salvation Army Super Sunday

    Histon Salvation Army is having a super Sunday on 18th December showing the World Cup Final at 3pm and Histon Salvation Army’s Carol Service at 6pm.

    The hall will be open from 2pm for all the pre-match build up and then following the football we will transition into the Carol Service. The perfect end to a wonderful day.

    The heating will be on. The kettle brewing. And the festivities will abound. The odd mince pie may make an appearance too.

  • Carols on the Green

    The popular annual Carols on the Green will be on Wednesday 14th December from 6pm.

    There will be stalls with seasonal drinks and the carols will begin about 6.30pm.

    Service sheets will be provided.

  • Animal Lanterns Workshop

    The Library Presents is holding a workshop at Histon Library on Sunday 11th December from 2 – 4pm.

    Lantern Festivals are celebrated throughout the world. As the days get darker, it’s good to make the most of this darkness with a special lantern. Join this workshop for families with children over 3 to make animal lanterns with paper plates, card, tissue and dough, then  take walk in the darkness, lit by your lantern.

    Tickets available from Histon Library (cash only).

    Open + will be closed to accommodate this event.

    A weekend of events to celebrate the Christmas season together organised by HI Friends.

    When is it? Thursday 8–Sunday 11 December

    What is it? A weekend of fun events for all to enjoy, building on the success of the 2021 Weekend. Includes the H & I Christmas
    Tree Festival and the Santa Grotto on the Green, new for 2022!

    Who is it for? There are events for everyone to enjoy!

    Organised by HI Friends, in partnership with the community.

  • Christmas Fun Afternoon

    An afternoon of fun activities for all ages from 1.30pm–4.30pm on Sunday 11th December on the Green

    Children’s roundabout, stalls and refreshments available during the afternoon

    Programme for the afternoon:

    1.30–4pm. Santa’s Grotto Meet Father Christmas! (Grotto visits booked on day. £5 per child.)

    1.45pm onwards: Circus workshops

    2.15pm: Santa Run starts

    2.20pm: The Moses Carter Band: Classic Christmas Songs

    3.30pm: Cambridge Tensing Choir

    4pm: The Park Primary School Choir

    4.10pm: Fire eating display

    4.25pm Christmas Weekend Grand Finale Community Singing with Histon Salvation Army Band and Lantern Display. Bring a torch if you don’t have a lantern!

    Santa Runs (All age 5k & Family Self Guided 1.5k)

    2.15pm start on the Green. Registration on the day from 1.15pm. Festive fancy dress encouraged! (Runners under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.)

    Christmas Wreath raffle will be held over the weekend. Wreath kindly donated by Histon Holly.

    Also visit the Christmas Tree Festival 12.30–4pm in Histon Methodist Church with Refreshments available.

  • Act of Remembrance

    All are welcome to join with the Royal British Legion, uniformed organisations and other representatives of the village community for an Act of Remembrance on Sunday 13th November from 9.30am at the War Memorial.

  • Winter Fayre and Community Breakfast

    Histon Salvation Army is holding a Winter Fayre and Community Breakfast on Saturday 19th November from 9.30am to 12pm.

    Stalls, full English breakfast and refreshments.
