  • Fans Forum – Histon FC

    Histon FC would greatly appreciate attendance from it’s supporters and local residents this coming Monday November 8th at 7.30 as they host a Fans Forum.

    Join them in the club bar to find out what is new at Histon FC and have the opportunity to pose questions to board members and footballing staff.

    Vic and Amanda shall have the bar fully stocked with drinks and snacks available.

  • Half Moon Pop Up Gallery

    There will be a Pop up Art Gallery on 27th November from 1-6pm at the Saint Andrew’s Centre showing the work of 12 local artists. The following artists will be bringing their works:

    Abi Cochran, Becky Convey, Helena Perry, Rachel Dormor, Daniela Stief, Kerstin Richter-Catling, Dario Fisher, Mark Evans, Sue Smith, Angie Wocha, Roxana de Rond, Carmen Renwick,

    There is a mix of jewellers, ceramicists, painters, printmakers and illustrators, glass and sculpture.  It promises to be a lovely show, a great opportunity to buy unique, beautifully made gifts, from a sustainably local economy.

    The gallery is brought to Histon by local arts organisation Half Moon Creative Arts CIC. The event is designed with social distancing in mind, so plenty of space and ventilation. Masks to be worn if possible.

  • All Glammed Up at the Royal British Legion

    The glam rock tribute band All Glammed Up will be playing at the Royal British Legion on Saturday 30th October at the Royal British Legion. Doors open at 7.30pm

    Tickets are £10 (£7 for members) and you can pop in to the Royal British Legion any evening to reserve your seats.

  • Remembrance Sunday

    On 14 November at 9.30am and the War Memorial. Once again the Royal British Legion is pleased to be able to hold the annual Remembrance Day Service at the villages’ War Memorial to which all are invited.

    The service begins at 9.30am on Sunday 14 November and lasts about 30-40 minutes. There will be the traditional laying of wreaths in memory of the fallen on behalf of our various churches and community organisations as well as a hymn, the national anthem and the playing of the Last Post and Reveille.

    Do join us; it will be good to come together in remembrance after the challenging months of the pandemic.

    On Sunday October 31st, 9.30am-3:30pm kids are taking over the stalls at Histon Smokehouse for a charity fundraiser!

    Brilliant stalls including jewellery, tote bags, terrariums & much more – made by kids & run by kids.

    • Crafting fun with mucky pups Cambridge
    • Prestige doughnut stand
    • All-day brunch served
    • 2-for-1 cocktails (adults only!)

    20% of sales from stalls and all the proceeds of the games and raffle will go to East Anglian Children’s Hospice

    Follow the clues to find your treasure trove of fun, food and light

    All children welcome. children must be supervised at all times. Please be aware of social distancing especially at the venues and be prepared to wait if it’s busy.

    This event is run by the Churches Together HI Holiday Club Team.

  • Village Society Market Stall

    The Village Society will have a stall on the Green this Saturday from 10-12pm selling their new book ‘Histon – On and off The Rails’. 

    The author, Geoffrey Smallwood, will be available to chat about the book and sign copies. Apologies, but purchases can only be made with cash not card.

    Over 120 copies have been sold in the first two weeks and the society would like to thank everyone for their kind support . It has been wonderful to see the interest in the village’s heritage by all ages.

  • Community, Politics, Heritage… And Pubs – a talk by Mark Donachy

    If you are a keen supporter of our village pubs or simply wish to soak up more local history, this is a great talk for you. Mark Donachy, the previous landlord of The Red Lion Histon, will attempt to present the pub you think you know in a wider context that will hopefully encourage a deeper understanding of the changing face of local pubs and the benefits they bring to our Society.

    Talk begins at 7pm; Entrance & Bar from 6pm

  • Macmillan Coffee Support Morning

    Tylers are hosting their annual Macmillan Coffee Support morning Friday 10am till 1 at their High Street office, with home baked cakes hoping to raise a few quid for this great cause.
