About Lorraine King, Owner of Toe-Tal Footcare
“I have been in the Foot Health business since 2006 – my business was initially on a domiciliary basis along with providing treatments for nursing/care homes and a clinic at the MS Centre in Huntingdon. I was based near St. Ives, Cambs and covered a 15-mile radius which kept me very busy!
In 2016, love brought me to live in Impington; I uprooted my life and work. Although, in the short term, I drove backwards and forwards to see my clients, racking up a lot of miles and stress sitting on the old A14. It was after months of this I mentioned to Danny, my other half, that I was spending half of my working day sat on the A14 and it was stressing me out, he suggested building a clinic in Impington.
The clinic opened in April of 2017; 4 months behind schedule. I then started passing my work further afield to newly qualified Foot Health Practitioners to help get them up and running. I still visit some of my clients further afield as I felt they were far too senior (100+ yrs) for me to disrupt their lives. It was a big gamble (especially at my time of life) to start over again with new clients, but it has proven to be a good move and I am now working at capacity with the kindness and support of residents of Histon, Impington and surrounding villages. This is something I am so very grateful for.
I feel that I am lucky in that I have a real passion for my work and not only provide foot health treatments but cosmetic too, warm wax therapy, toenail reconstruction, verruca treatment, fungal nail infection tests and treatment. Initially, the clinic comprised of a waiting room and a clinic room. However it was bugging me that there was still room for another room and expansion. Danny was opposed to this (The reason being “what am I going to do with my junk?” – well, in my eyes, he had answered his own question…. it was junk!) I got my own way and a new room was formed. Called `The Beauty Room’ full time beautician Sophie of ‘Sophie Norman Beauty’ happily works from there, offering an array of treatments.
My clinic is rarely empty even when I’m not working and used by Evia ‘Lashes by Evia’, Janice ‘The Reflexology Lady’ and Laura ‘Walk Cambridge’. I am very proud of my clinic and all the girls that work in it, I feel it is a happy place, somewhere you can relax.
Nothing puts more of a smile on my face more than someone walking in with a sore foot and skipping out with a smile on their face!
