Histon and Impington Archaeology Group

Histon and Impington Archaeology Group are a friendly group of predominantly amateur or would be archaeologists, although a few of them originally had some formal training in the subject. Their main interest is in learning about, and discovering for themselves, the undocumented past of Histon & Impington and the surrounding area through objects recovered from the ground.

The group’s aims are to encourage an interest in archaeology and its relevance to our community heritage within our local community. They do this by promoting lectures (around 8 talks a year, free to members); organising practical activities such as excavation and field walking; holding workshops and arranging visits and field trips related to archaeology. They also carry out original research, investigations, fieldwork, and recording and, where appropriate, publish the results, networking with other associations working for similar purposes.

Monthly club nights are an opportunity to catch up, and activities range from workshops, for example identifying and processing finds, and seminar style talks. They are free to members but all welcome to come and see. Refreshments are provided. You can keep up to date with forthcoming activities and talks, for free, by joining our circulation list via our website. New members are always welcome.
