Apple Juicing at the Community Orchard

Apple Juicing at the Community Orchard

This is a good opportunity for anyone with a surplus of apples or pears to turn them into juice. This year we’d be very grateful for donations of fruit as the trees in the orchard are still very young and so have not started producing much fruit yet. Histon and Impington Community Orchard Project (HICOP) will provide the relevant juice making equipment including two traditional apple presses. Everyone is invited to help with chopping and macerating the apples and operating the presses. It is a great family event and children are particularly welcome. If you would like to take some juice home with you then please bring some containers; plastic milk bottles or screw-top wine bottles are ideal. The juice will keep in the fridge for 3–4 days and if frozen will keep considerably longer.
